Loeb awarded six M. Loeb Ltd.-IGA bursaries annually, and in 1964, the Loeb foundation donated money for the creation of a new and urgently needed Social Science building. The Loeb family are known as strong supporters of the Ottawa community and Carleton University.
The Loeb building officially opened as the new Social Science Building on the ever-expanding Rideau campus on Dec 1st, 1967. The four tower structure was intended to house office, research and classroom facilities. It is now home to the faculty of Public Affairs and Management, and Kroeger College.
