History of the Rebellion in Wexford

Prime Minister Mackenzie Bowell was the owner of the newspaper The Belleville Intelligencer and publisher via the Intelligencer Office. In 1864, The Intelligencer published History of the Rise, Progress, and in 1798 the Cruelties and Suppression of the Rebellion in the County Wexford written by George Taylor.

For a period of time, Prime Minister Bowell was Head of the Orange Lodge of British North America. A ribbon of the Lodge in which he was a member is included: Lodge No. 101 in Kazabazua, Quebec.
