Dr. John Morton was the sole professor and Chair of the Chemistry Department when he came to Carleton College in 1947.
Dr. Morton was involved with a variety of University Committees, including the Student Personal Services Committee, Student Aid Committee, as well as the Carleton University Senate. Before his retirement from Carleton University in 1971, Dr. Morton published a variety of works, including articles for scholarly journals, and his dissertation entitled “The Kinetics of Thermal Decomposition of Hydrocarbon Vapours”. The collection at the Carleton University Archives and Special Collections contains textual records relating to Dr. Morton's involvement with the Senate, Faculty meetings, and University Convocation. In addition to this there is also some general correspondence.
